Job summary

Valterra Platinum is seeking a Section Engineer to provide operational service to the Resident Engineer across mining operations with a 1-year planning horizon. You will oversee safe movement of personnel, ore and materials in shafts and haulage, and ensure maintenance aligns with Asset Management Plans.

Qualifications

• Engineering related degree – BSC Engineering / Diploma
• Government Certificate of Competency
• 5 years of post-engineering qualification experience, of which 3 years in an appointed position will be advantageous
• Experience in underground mechanized mining environment will be advantageous
• Basic computer literacy

Responsibilities

• Apply the Asset Management Framework to the section
• Apply Valterra Platinum Technical Standards and Critical Controls
• Develop and manage the budget for their sections (1–5 year horizon) via Asset Management Plans
• Manage major shutdowns, component replacements and rebuilds
• Manage projects to completion on schedule and within budget
• Ensure sections are legally compliant
• Manage element of asset performance to meet production targets
• Maintain infrastructure to avoid indirect production risks
• Coordinate logistics of machinery transporting ore, waste, equipment or people
• Oversee construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance of equipment
• Supervise staff operating equipment in area of responsibility
• Formulate a section strategy with improvements to equipment performance and maintenance cost
• Prepare regular performance reports against engineering metrics and progress against strategy
