Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated School Counselor to support the emotional, social, and academic well‑being of students at our Randburg campus. You will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to promote a safe learning environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in School Counseling or related field, is registered with HPCSA, and has experience with children and adolescents.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Professional registration with HPCSA or equivalent.
  • Proven experience counseling children and adolescents.
  • Strong understanding of child development and mental health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling for personal, social, emotional, and academic concerns.
  • Develop and implement guidance programs focusing on career exploration and life skills.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and support students in distress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators and external agencies.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students addressing personal, social, emotional, and academic concerns.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive guidance programs focusing on career exploration, college readiness, and life skills.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and provide support to students experiencing trauma or distress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external agencies to support student needs.
  • Maintain confidential student records and adhere to ethical and professional standards of counseling.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Professional registration with a relevant governing body (e.g., HPCSA).
  • Proven experience in providing counseling services to children and adolescents.
  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and educational psychology.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
