Job summary

Medtronic is hiring a Sales Intern to gain exposure to the medical technology industry. You will work with sales and clinical professionals, contribute to initiatives that improve healthcare, and develop commercial, clinical, technical, and customer-facing skills across multiple territories.

You will join a structured 12-month program starting November 2026, with locations in Cape Town, Gqeberha, Johannesburg, and Bloemfontein.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a relevant degree as listed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Willingness to travel to support customer needs.
• Eligible to work in South Africa and under 30 years old.

Responsibilities

• Support customer engagement and account management activities with Sales and Clinical teams.
• Assist with clinical and technical support, product demos, and training under supervision.
• Coordinate quotes, PO follow-ups, reporting, and customer inquiries.
• Assist with inventory, stock accuracy, and compliance with procedures.
• Develop knowledge of Medtronic products and healthcare pathways to support objectives.
• Collect market insights and competitive intelligence through approved channels.

This internship provides structured learning, hands‑on experience, and the opportunity to develop commercial, clinical, technical, and customer‑facing skills while supporting healthcare professionals and customers across assigned territories.

Internship Detail

• Start date: November 2026
• Duration: 12 months
• Locations : Gqeberha (Eastern Cape), Cape Town (Western Cape), Johannesburg (Gauteng), Bloemfontein (Free State)
• Working hours: Full‑time
• Work model: Field‑based and office‑based, with regular travel to customer facilities

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

• Support customer engagement and account management activities by working alongside Sales Representatives, Clinical Specialists
• Assist with clinical and technical support activities, including product demonstrations, case preparation, procedure support, customer training, and educational initiatives under appropriate supervision.
• Coordinate administrative and operational activities, including quotations, purchase‑order follow‑up, reporting, presentations, customer inquiries, and maintenance of accurate records
• Assist with inventory and consignment management to ensure product availability, stock accuracy, and compliance with business procedures.
• Develop knowledge of Medtronic products, therapies, disease states, and healthcare pathways to effectively support customer needs and business objectives.
• Collect and communicate market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence through approved channels.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical business practices.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Recently graduated with a degree in Health Sciences or Life Sciences or Biomedical Sciences or Medical Sciences or Nursing or Business or Marketing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Able to travel to support customer needs
• Must be currently unemployed
• Must be a South African citizen
• Must be under the age of 30
• Must not have participated in a YES programme previously
• Should not be currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in postgraduate studies
• Commits to complete 12‑month internship

Would be a Plus:

• A valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Previous exposure to a clinical, theatre, healthcare, or medical technology environment.
• Experience supporting customer engagement, education activities, or field‑based work.
