Job summary

Valmet seeks a Sales Engineer for its Flow Control team in South Africa, covering Refining and Chemicals, Renewable Energy and Industrial Gases. You will promote the full Flow Control range and tailor technical solutions for customers.

You will visit customers, size valves, prepare quotations, and drive orders while building long-term relationships. Fluency in English and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a technical sales or sales engineering role.
• Experience with valve sizing, quotation prep, and order closing.

• Promote and sell Valmet Flow Control’s full range of products and services.
• Visit existing and potential customers to assess needs and provide tailored technical solutions.
• Provide product recommendations and technical support, including valve sizing and selection.
• Prepare accurate quotations and follow up actively to close orders.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery terms within authorized limits.
• Identify new business opportunities and develop strong, long-term customer relationships.
• Prepare and submit monthly sales reports on past performance, current pipeline, and prospects.
• Share customer feedback and market insights with internal stakeholders to support business strategy.
• Travel extensively within the region (around four days per week).

Valmet, a global leader in process technologies, automation, and services for various industries—including pulp, paper, and energy—is currently looking for a Sales Engineer Refining and Chemicals, Renewable Energy and Industrial Gasses to join our Flow Control team in South Africa.

Valmet's Flow Control Business Area delivers mission-critical flow control technologies and services for the continuously evolving process industries incl oil and gas refining, chemicals, pulp and paper, metals and mining, renewable energy, and other process industries. We help our customers to improve their process performance and environmental efficiency, and to ensure the safe flow of materials. We drive profitable growth and sustainable productivity across our customer industries. Our product offering ranges from industrial control, on-off and safety valves to valve controllers, actuators and limit switches, as well as their spare parts and related services. Annually, Flow Control Business Area delivers around 400 000 valves, 80 000 actuators and positioners similarly.

Your Responsibilities:

• Promote and sell Valmet Flow Control’s full range of products and services

Requirements:

• Trade Test, Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field


• 2–5 years of experience in a technical sales or sales engineering role


• Experience in valve sizing, quotation preparation, and order closing


• Strong technical knowledge of valves, actuators, and pumps (highly advantageous)


• Proven ability to work independently and manage a regional sales territory


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills


• Familiarity with the Refining and Chemicals and Renewable Energy and Industrial Gasses sector; knowledge of Pulp and Paper, Food & Beverage, or Power Generation is a plus


• Fluent in English


• Comfortable with extensive travel
