Job summary

Valterra Platinum seeks an experienced maintenance technician at the Mototolo Complex, Burgersfort, SA. You will maintain, install, and commission machinery, perform risk assessments, and ensure environmental and safety compliance.

The role requires a Grade 12, N2, Rigging competency, and 3 years in cranes/rigging with code 08 license. You will coach subordinates and apprentices, manage PM documentation, and maintain lifting equipment; join a safety-focused, value-driven team dedicated to

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric is required.
• Technical N2 trade certificate is required.
• Rigging trade certificate (Competent Rigging) is required.
• At least 3 years’ experience in cranes/rigging environment.
• Valid driving licence code 08.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and commission machinery and equipment to standard.
• Attend and conduct safety meetings.
• Conduct and participate in risk assessments.
• Comply with environmental requirements.
• Replace components as needed; exercise judgment on replacements.
• Maintain high quality of work and standards.
• Complete job cards and record spares used (PMs).
• Support and develop subordinates and apprentices.
• Maintain and inspect chairlifts.
• Inspect lifting equipment in stores.
• Perform tasks to required standards with appropriate tools.

Job Description

This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996:

Your Responsibilities Will Include (but Not Limited To)

• Maintain, install and commission the of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.
• Attend and conduct Safety meeting
• Conducts and participate in Risk assessments
• Comply to environmental requirements
• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components
• Maintains a high quality of work
• Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s)
• Support, coach and participate in the training and development of subordinates and apprentices
• Responsible for maintenance and inspections on chairlifts
• Responsible for maintenance and inspection of lifting equipment on the stores
• Performing work to the required standards and specifications
• Applying appropriate tools to complete tasks

Qualifications

• Grade 12/ Matric
• Technical Trade Specific N2
• Certified Competent as Rigger (Rigging Trade certificate)

Experience

• 3 years experiance
• Fixed cranes, Mobile cranes and Rope splicing

Knowledge And Skills

• Must be able to do standby and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid driving license code 08
• Basic Computer Skills
