Job summary

Valterra Platinum in Polokwane, SA is looking for a qualified Millwright to support production performance and maintain plant equipment.

You will plan and execute maintenance tasks, coordinate with the Shift Leader, and contribute to safety and continuous improvement. This role requires willingness to work overtime and shifts, with a clear path for learning and progression within a values-led, high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Certified Millwright with valid trade qualification.
• Experience in a processing/smelter environment is advantageous.
• Willingness to work overtime and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Obtain work instructions from Shift Leader and plan tasks.
• Maintain equipment to standard and ensure safety compliance.
• Coordinate maintenance with the Shift Leader to avoid downtime.
• Identify risks and support improvement projects.
• Complete and sign off work orders and reports.

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Supports the achievement of production performance level

• Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician
• Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks
• Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician in order to complete allocated work orders
• Inform the Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician when work is being conducted in the area of responsibility
• Co-coordinate maintenance activities with the Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician, to ensure that the operation is not affected or alternative plans need to be prepared
• Show the appropriate Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician how certain low-level maintenance and preventative steps can be undertaken by the operational team within process
• Communicate any stumbling blocks to the appropriate Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician so that plans can be made
• Ensure the safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment are conducted
• Ensure that any operational problem that is encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility
• Available for after-hours standby duty
• Available to work shift cycles as required to meet business needs

Maintains the equipment to standard

• Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules are accurately complied with
• Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications
• Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed
• Identify opportunities to improve operations
• Participation in improvement projects
• Support efforts to overcome operational problems
• Identify risks and threats to the process proactively
• Ensure that the correct tools are used to complete tasks
• Ensure that materials and equipment are available for the shifts requirements in the area
• Communicate plant defects to the Shift Leader or Senior Instrumentation Technician via notifications
• Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and plans
• Ensure that employees work in a safe environment
• Supervise allocated multi-task team member in order to complete assigned work tasks or orders
• Ensure that the prescribed safety equipment is always worn
• Complete and sign off all allocated orders
• Communicate process problems to necessary people
• Support BA team members if they require help
• Help engineering employees to maintain equipment in BA
• Effective two-way communications with team members

Administration of necessary systems

• Assist the BA Officer in completing safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area
• Compile an accurate shift/work order reports
• Ensure that technical data is accurate
• Complete requisitions for stock items required
• Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers
• Complete the necessary job cards relating to the task done including and description of work and spares used
• Participate in required meetings including safety
• Accurately complete role administration requirements

This role is at a C2 level reporting to the Plant Engineer

Qualifications

• Certified Competent as Millwright

Experience, Knowledge And Skills

• Exposure in a Processing/Smelter/Automated laboratory plant will be an added advantage.
• Fault finding on both mechanical and electrical equipment
• Must be willing to work overtime and shifts
