MotseniHiTechSpace is a fast-growing aerospace, maritime, and defence communications development company situated in Technopark, Stellenbosch. We are looking for an RF Design Engineer to be part of the R&D team. This Junior to mid-level role requires RF experience and the ability to learn. BSc/BEng or master’s degree in Electronic Engineering required with at least 6 Months - 3 year experience in RF Design/Microwave, Schematics & PCB development. You will be exposed to working in aerospace, defence, space, maritime, or other highly engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate RF Subsystems for communication systems
- Design, develop RF circuitry for transmit and receive signal chains, including frequency conversion stages, mixers, LO synthesizers, filters, Amplifiers & Antennas, ADCs & DACs and SMPS (DC/DC Converters).
- Develop RF front-end architecture and circuit design through system integration.
- Work closely with firmware & Mechanical engineers on integration and testing.
- Perform full product lifecycle through system integration, test & verification.
- Participate in system analysis, Link-budget, cascaded gain, noise figure, P1dB, spurious responses & intermodulation distortion.
- Contribute to documentation and technical review processes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including systems, mechanical, firmware, software, and algorithm engineers, to make possible successful product development.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, or related field
- Experience in RF Schematics & PCB layout (Microstrip or Coplanar)
- RF & Microwave experience (Link budget, RF Power line-up & Schematics)
- Hands on experience using VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Signal generators or VSA
- Proficiency in Python/or MATLAB for modelling, simulation and data analysis
- Proficiency in ADS/HFSS/CST/MWO EDA RF simulation/modelling software
- Proficiency in LTSpice & LTPowerCad simulation of power supplies
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium)
- Experience with DC Power budget for subsystem will be an advantage.
Preferred
- BEng / BSc / MEng in Electronic Engineering with an RF/Microwave focus or related field.
- Some experience designing and developing communication systems, or other advanced RF sensing systems.
- Hand’s-on experience with PLLs, frequency synthesizers, ADC’S/DACs, interfaces and mixed-signal RF architectures.
- Knowledge of RF simulation and electromagnetic modelling tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, or similar software.
Package & Remuneration
The position is a one (1) year contract with the possibility of a permanent placement.
