Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Retail Stock Controller for our Mahikeng store in the North West, SA. You will manage receiving, dispatching, and stock records to minimize discrepancies and optimise stock levels.

Responsibilities include cycle counts, reports, liaison with suppliers, and ensuring health and safety in stock areas. The role rewards accuracy, organization, and teamwork in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in inventory management, stock control, or a similar role within a retail environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Proficiency in using stock management software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work required hours, including potential overtime during peak periods.
• Matriculation certificate or equivalent; a relevant qualification in inventory management or logistics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing the receiving and dispatching of all stock accurately and efficiently.
• Implementing and adhering to inventory control procedures to maintain accurate stock records.
• Conducting regular stock takes (cycle counts and full inventory counts) and reconciling discrepancies.
• Monitoring stock levels across all product categories, ensuring optimal inventory for sales and minimizing overstock or stockouts.
• Processing stock adjustments, transfers, and returns according to company policy.
• Maintaining organized and secure stockroom areas.
• Analyzing stock data to identify slow-moving items, potential shrinkage, and opportunities for improvement.
• Liaising with suppliers and the head office regarding stock orders, deliveries, and discrepancies.
• Generating reports on inventory levels, stock movement, and valuation.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the stockroom and receiving areas in Mahikeng.
