Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Mine Operations Manager for its Soweto, Gauteng operation. You will lead all mining activities, drive safety, production targets and cost efficiency while managing a large workforce and coordinating with planning, engineering and maintenance teams.

The role requires a BEng/BSc in Mining Engineering, a Mine Manager CoC, and 10+ years in mine operations with 5+ in management. A strong safety culture and strategic leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Mining Engineering is required.
• Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (CoC) is essential.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine operations, with at least 5 years in a management role.
• Proven experience in managing large underground or open-pit mining operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily mining operations (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, ground support).
• Develop and implement operational plans to meet production targets safely and cost-effectively.
• Manage and mentor a large team of mine supervisors, operators and support staff.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Monitor performance with KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage operational budgets and control costs.
• Collaborate with planning, engineering and maintenance teams for seamless operations.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks and promote a strong safety culture.
