Job summary

GOTO Group in Cape Town seeks an experienced Conveyancer to handle residential title checks for freehold and leasehold properties, liaising with UK-based conveyancers.

You will review title documentation, prepare accurate title reports, and coordinate with sellers' legal representatives. The role is office-based in Foreshore with UK hours and plenty of training and support.

Qualifications

• 12+ months' direct experience undertaking residential freehold and leasehold title checks.
• Experience reviewing domestic property titles and related documentation.
• Familiarity with UK-based conveyancing processes and transactions.

Responsibilities

• Undertake residential title checks across freehold, leasehold and other titles.
• Review title documentation for restrictions, covenants and defects.
• Raise enquiries with sellers' legal representatives as needed.
• Prepare clear, accurate title reports for residential transactions.

• Ensure high accuracy to minimise post-completion issues.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake residential title checks across freehold, leasehold and other property titles in accordance with the client's processes and requirements
• Review title documentation and identify restrictions, covenants, discrepancies, defects or other matters requiring further investigation
• Raise appropriate enquiries with sellers' legal representatives
• Prepare clear, accurate legal title reports for residential property transactions
• Identify and communicate any additional actions or matters requiring follow-up by the Conveyancer
• Review supporting legal and property documentation to ensure relevant title matters have been appropriately addressed
• Where required, assist with additional technical conveyancing activities including sale enquiries, indemnity policies, grants of probate and specialist correspondence
• Maintain a high level of accuracy to minimise the risk of registration, financial or other issues arising post-completion
• Manage allocated work effectively against agreed deadlines, service levels and quality standards
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation using the client's case management systems
• Work collaboratively with the client's UK-based Conveyancers and wider legal team
• Follow all GOTO SA policies alongside applicable client procedures, quality standards, data protection and information security requirements

Key Skills

• Previous experience within residential conveyancing

• Practical knowledge of both freehold and leasehold transactions

• Previous experience supporting UK residential conveyancing transactions
• Experience raising legal enquiries and preparing title reports
• Experience reviewing indemnity policies, probate documentation or other technical conveyancing matters
• Licensed Conveyancer, Solicitor, Legal Executive or currently studying towards a relevant legal qualification
