Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a Food Services Supervisor in Ontario to oversee daily food production and dining services for residents and guests. Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will ensure meals meet nutritional needs, safety standards, and resident preferences.

You will lead and coach kitchen staff, manage inventory, collaborate with the Dietitian, and support special catering functions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized 2-year diploma in food services supervision or management, or a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or Hotel Management; CNSM membership and eligible for OSSNM.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Minimum 1 year experience in quantity food production; supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese or Japanese is an asset.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Responsibilities

• Support the Food Services Manager in overseeing daily food production and service in accordance with legislation, Ministry standards, and Yee Hong policies.
• Lead, coach, and support Food Services staff to ensure effective daily operations and high-quality service.
• Monitor residents’ food intake, dietary needs, preferences, and concerns, collaborating with the Dietitian as needed.
• Meet with new residents to understand their food preferences and dining needs.
• Supervise food preparation and ensure food quality, temperatures, sanitation, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-functioning kitchen and dining areas.
• Support food ordering, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and departmental resources.
• Participate in resident care conferences and contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Support catering and special food service functions as required.
• Stay current with food service best practices and regulatory requirements.
