Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Renewable Energy Project Developer in Centurion, Gauteng, a hybrid role combining office strategy and on-site assessments. You will identify, evaluate, and secure solar, wind, and other renewable projects across South Africa, leading the full development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in renewables, strong project finance, and proven success in originating and closing deals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years in renewable energy project development or related roles.
• Experience originating, developing and closing renewable energy deals.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.).
• Conduct thorough feasibility studies, including resource assessments, grid connection feasibility, and environmental impact analyses.
• Develop and execute project development strategies to achieve company growth objectives.
• Lead negotiations for land leases, grid connection agreements, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
• Secure necessary permits and approvals from local, regional, and national authorities.
• Collaborate with financial institutions to arrange project financing and ensure economic viability.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, and government agencies.
• Manage external consultants and service providers involved in project development.
• Contribute to policy advocacy and market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends.
• Support the transition of projects to the construction and operations phases.

About the Role

Our client, a leading developer of renewable energy infrastructure, is looking for a dynamic and experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to join their team in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and securing new opportunities for solar, wind, and other renewable energy projects across South Africa . You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from initial site prospecting and feasibility assessment to securing permits, financing, and power purchase agreements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the renewable energy market, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record in project finance and development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of sustainable energy in the region and work on impactful projects. The hybrid model allows for flexibility between office-based strategy development and on-site project assessments.
