Job summary

Bonafide Human Capital is seeking a Remuneration Manager for our client’s Head Office in Johannesburg to lead payroll strategy and execution. You will oversee monthly and weekly payrolls for 1000+ employees, ensure accuracy, legality and efficiency, and drive payroll system interfaces and improvements.

The role demands expert knowledge of Payspace, BCEA/LRA/POPI rules, strong leadership, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification and/ or relevant payroll related qualification.
• 10 years payroll management experience, 3+ years in a managerial role.
• Subject matter expert for payroll, taxes and complex processing.
• Experience in payroll implementation and interfaces to other applications.
• Payroll programming skills advantageous.
• Experience with large monthly/weekly payrolls (>1000 employees).
• Strong financial acumen and ability to perform reconciliations and journals.
• Advanced MS Office, especially Excel; excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of Labour laws and payroll best practices.

Responsibilities

• Maximise effectiveness and efficiency of payroll processing and controls.
• Audit integrity of payroll systems, rules and calculations against legislation.
• Conduct payroll reviews and ensure input/payments accuracy.
• Implement remuneration policy and practices.
• Lead and manage the remuneration department and team.
• Prepare end-of-month/year payroll reporting and related financial provisions.
• Develop, mentor and train payroll staff; improve policies and workflows.
• Manage departmental budget and monitor against actuals.
• Oversee Payroll and Time & Attendance systems and interfaces.
• Ensure compliance of recordkeeping and data processing; stakeholder communication.
