About the Role

Our client, a prominent international logistics and freight forwarding company, is seeking an accomplished and strategic Remote Transport Operations Manager to lead their virtual transportation division. This is a fully remote position, allowing you the flexibility to operate from your chosen location while overseeing a critical aspect of our client's global operations. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and optimization of all transportation modes, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods worldwide. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the management of all transport operations, including road, rail, air, and sea freight.
• Oversee the selection and management of carriers and logistics partners, negotiating contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Monitor transportation costs, identify efficiencies, and implement measures to reduce expenditure while maintaining service quality.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant international and domestic transportation regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards.
• Lead and mentor a remote team of transport coordinators and managers, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies to optimize routing, tracking, and overall efficiency.
• Analyze transport data to identify performance trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions and ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with other supply chain functions, including warehousing and planning, to ensure seamless integration.
• Prepare detailed reports on transportation performance, costs, and strategic initiatives for senior management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in transport operations management, with a significant portion in international freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proven experience in managing multi-modal transportation operations on a global scale.
• Strong understanding of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping documentation.
• Expertise in utilizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other relevant logistics software.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage a remote workforce effectively.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
