Placements24 is seeking a Remote Telecoms Network Architect to design and oversee scalable, high-availability networks from anywhere in South Africa. You will lead architecture efforts across WAN, LAN, and wireless, shaping standards and strategies for secure, performant systems.

This senior role requires deep telecom expertise, cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP), SDN/NFV, and a proven ability to translate business needs into robust technical designs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering and architecture, with focus on telecommunications.
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and SDN/NFV.
• Experience with network performance analysis and optimization tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-level network architecture designs for large-scale telecommunications systems (WAN, LAN, wireless).
• Define network standards, policies, and procedures for security, scalability, and performance.
• Evaluate and select new network technologies to meet evolving business needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to implement network designs.
• Create architecture diagrams, design specs, and capacity plans.
