Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote In-House Legal Specialist focused on Technology and Intellectual Property law. You will serve as the primary legal contact for software licensing, data privacy, and IP portfolio management, ensuring compliance across a global technology environment.

The role requires 6+ years as an attorney in technology/IP law, with strong drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.

Qualifications

Admitted Attorney with 6+ years in Technology and IP law.
Deep knowledge of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Experience with data privacy regulations (POPIA, GDPR) and cybersecurity issues.
Proven record drafting and negotiating complex technology agreements.

Responsibilities

Provide expert legal advice on technology law, software licensing, SaaS agreements, cloud computing, and data protection.
Manage and protect the company’s IP portfolio including trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets.
Draft, review and negotiate software development, vendor, and IP licensing agreements.
Advise on IP strategy, including patent filing and trademark registration and enforcement.
Conduct IP due diligence for potential acquisitions, partnerships, and investments.
Support product development teams by identifying and mitigating legal risks in new tech.
Develop internal policies on data privacy, cybersecurity, and IP protection.
Stay current with global tech/IP law trends and liaise with external counsel on IP matters.
