Placements24 is seeking an accomplished In-House Counsel specializing in Technology and IP law for a fully remote role across South Africa. You will guide tech transactions, software licensing, data privacy, and IP protection strategies while supporting product development and strategic partnerships.

Admitted SA attorney with 5–7 years of post-admission experience in technology/IP matters will advise cross-functional teams, navigate regulatory requirements, and help shape the company’s legal

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 5–7 years post-admission experience focused on Technology and IP law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex tech and IP agreements.
• Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright and data privacy laws.
• Experience with SaaS, software licensing, and cloud agreements.

Responsibilities

• Advise on technology transactions including software development, licensing, and SaaS.
• Protect and manage IP portfolio including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (POPIA, GDPR) and advise on data protection strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate technology-related contracts and service agreements.
• Support product development, R&D, and commercialization of new technologies.
• Provide IP due diligence for potential acquisitions or partnerships.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and marketing teams.
