Placements24 is seeking a talented Remote Solar PV Design Engineer to design and specify PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects from anywhere in South Africa. You will generate drawings and BOMs, use PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, and ensure designs meet codes and safety standards.

This remote role offers flexibility and opportunities to work with distributed teams. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 4 years of solar PV

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of solar PV design experience.
• Proficient in PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
• Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed system design for solar PV installations, including site layout and component selection.
• Generate engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs/BOQs.
• Conduct energy production modeling to optimize system output and returns.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate remotely with sales and installation partners during proposals and construction.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).

You will collaborate virtually with project managers, sales teams, and installation partners to ensure designs are efficient, compliant, and cost-effective. Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed system design for solar PV installations, including site layout, component selection (panels, inverters, mounting structures), and electrical design.
• Generate engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and PVsyst.
• Conduct energy production modeling and performance analysis to optimize system output and financial returns.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate remotely with sales teams to provide technical support during the proposal phase and with installation partners during construction.
• Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for solar PV projects.

Requirements
