Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Solar Energy Consultant to join a leading renewable energy consultancy.

This fully remote role lets you advise on feasibility, design, and implementation of solar projects across international markets, including South Africa, while building strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in solar energy, deep PV knowledge, and proficiency with PVSyst, Helioscope and Aurora Solar to model performance and economics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy) or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar energy project development, consulting, or engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV technology, components (panels, inverters, mounting systems), and system design principles.
• Proficiency in solar design and simulation software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, Aurora Solar).
• Strong understanding of project finance, economic modeling, and incentive programs relevant to solar energy.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with diverse clients remotely.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience in international markets, including familiarity with South African solar regulations and opportunities, is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed site assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar PV projects.
• Design optimized solar energy systems, including component selection, system sizing, and electrical schematics.
• Perform energy production modeling and financial analysis, including ROI, payback period, and LCOE calculations.
• Advise clients on navigating local regulations, permitting processes, and available incentives and rebates.
• Develop comprehensive proposals and technical documentation for solar energy projects.
• Stay current with advancements in solar technology, market trends, and policy changes globally.
• Manage client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering partners and installation teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide expert consultation on energy storage solutions and grid-tie integration.
• Contribute to the company's knowledge base and best practices in solar consulting.
