Placements24 is seeking a Remote Site Safety Officer to uphold top-tier safety across construction sites, including Soweto. This role blends field oversight with remote coordination, developing programs, conducting audits, and guiding site teams from a distance.

You will implement safety plans, deliver toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with South African health and safety laws, while working remotely and collaborating with site personnel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Safety Officer in the construction industry.

• Certification in Safety Management is highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Remote Site Safety Officer to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained across their construction sites, serving areas including Soweto . While working remotely, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs and protocols. Your role will involve regular site assessments (often through remote reporting and virtual tools), training coordination, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety legislation. This position is ideal for a safety professional who is committed to fostering a strong safety culture and can effectively manage safety initiatives from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific health and safety plans and procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel, ensuring understanding and adherence.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Safety Officer or in a similar health and safety role within the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Certification in Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH, OHSAS, SAMTRAC) is highly desirable.
• Excellent observational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication, training, and reporting skills, adaptable for remote operations.
• Ability to work independently and manage safety protocols across multiple sites from a distance.
