Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Construction Health and Safety Officer to champion safety standards across construction projects, with oversight conducted remotely from the Klerksdorp area. Ensure compliance with SA safety regulations and a strong safety culture among all personnel, irrespective of location.

You will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety plans, conduct remote risk assessments, provide virtual training, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years as Health and Safety Officer, preferably construction.
• Registered with SACPCMP or SAIOSH.
• Knowledge of SA OHS Act and construction safety regs.
• Proficiency with digital tools for communication, reporting and safety management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and observational skills for remote hazard ID.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor health and safety plans for construction projects, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and recommend preventive measures for sites.
• Deliver and document safety training via virtual platforms.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; prepare reports and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACPCMP, SAIOSH).
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction safety regulations.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for communication, reporting, and safety management.
