Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Remote Site Safety Manager to develop and oversee health, safety and environmental programs for major infrastructure projects from a remote location. You will drive audits, incident investigations, and training to sustain compliance and a zero-harm culture.

You will lead remote safety initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, and advise teams on best practices, with opportunities for professional certifications and travel to critical inspection sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years of construction site safety management experience.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
• NOSA or IOSH certification highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of SA OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Strong auditing, hazard identification and incident investigation skills.
• Excellent remote communication, reporting and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks remotely.
• Proficiency in safety management software and office tools.
• Commitment to zero-harm safety culture.

Requirements

• Professional certification such as NOSA, IOSH, or equivalent is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in construction site safety management, preferably with large-scale infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act, Construction Regulations).
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills, particularly in a remote context.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills to promote safety compliance.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines effectively in a remote setup.
