Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Thermal Management Engineer for a fully remote role supporting Bloemfontein region's technical division. You will lead the thermal design process for high-power computing hardware, from concept to validation, ensuring reliability in demanding environments.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with Thermal Sciences, 6+ years’ experience, and proficiency in CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent or Star-CCM+.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Thermal Sciences or Heat Transfer.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in thermal management design for electronic systems.
• Proficiency in CFD software and thermal modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer mechanisms, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with thermal testing equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate innovative thermal management solutions for high-power electronic systems.
• Utilize CFD and thermal analysis tools to simulate and predict thermal performance.
• Perform detailed heat transfer calculations and component-level thermal analysis.
• Specify and select TIMs, heat sinks, fans, and other cooling components.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and product development teams to integrate thermal solutions seamlessly.
• Develop thermal test plans, conduct experiments, and analyze results to validate designs.
• Identify and mitigate thermal-related risks throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, analysis reports, and test procedures.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in thermal management for electronics.
