Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a Remote Senior Telecom Solutions Architect to lead the design and evolution of its telecommunications infrastructure. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa.

The role demands translating complex business needs into architectural blueprints. You will drive end-to-end solutions, collaborate with engineering teams, and mentor staff while staying ahead of industry trends in 5G, NFV/SDN, and cloud-native

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in telecommunications network design and architecture.
Expertise in 5G, LTE, IMS, VoIP and related mobile/fixed technologies.
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with NFV and software-defined networking (SDN).
Proficiency in scripting and automation tools.
Excellent communication and ability to work remotely on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the overall technical architecture for telecommunications services, aligning with business objectives.
Design end‑to‑end solutions for new products and services, encompassing network, compute, and storage requirements.
Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and vendors to meet architectural goals.
Create detailed architectural documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and proposals.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of architectural designs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development and operations teams.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in telecommunications and cloud computing.
Conduct feasibility studies and proof‑of‑concepts for new technologies.
Define and enforce architectural standards and governance.
Present technical solutions and strategies to stakeholders at various levels.
