Placements24 is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for a remote-first role serving clients in South Africa. You will manage servers, networks, virtualization, and cloud platforms, ensuring uptime, security, and performance.

The position emphasizes autonomie, design, implementation, and proactive problem-solving. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in systems administration, strong Windows and Linux skills, and experience with virtualization and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration with server and network management.
• Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux administration.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and firewall management.
• Experience with virtualization platforms and cloud computing services.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, manage, and maintain server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Administer network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and manage virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement proactive solutions for high availability.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex system and network issues.
