Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Software Engineering Lead to guide a distributed team across South Africa. You will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive delivery of robust, scalable software in a remote-first environment.

The role requires 8+ years in software development, with at least 3 years in leadership, and deep expertise in modern languages and cloud platforms. Strong communication and async collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's in CS/Eng or related field.
8+ years in software development with 3+ years in leadership/management.
Experience leading remote engineering teams using Scrum or Kanban.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
Provide architectural direction for complex software projects and ensure scalable, secure solutions.
Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software applications.
Champion agile practices and SDLC best practices across teams.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams on roadmaps.
Ensure performance, scalability, and security of solutions.
Conduct code reviews and uphold coding standards.
Drive process improvements to boost productivity and quality.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Contribute to strategic technical planning and technology selection.
