Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Software Architect to define the technical vision and lead the development of scalable, high-performance software solutions. You will mentor teams, set coding standards, and guide technology choices in a fully remote setup across South Africa.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software development, strong distributed systems and microservices experience, and deep knowledge of AWS/Azure. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential in this remote role.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a software architect or lead developer role.
Proven experience designing and implementing complex, large-scale distributed systems.
In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#).
Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor technical teams.
Experience working effectively in a fully remote environment.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

Define and maintain the overall software architecture and technical roadmap.
Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance software systems.
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement architectural best practices and coding standards.
Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for development.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
Ensure the security, integrity, and performance of software solutions.
