Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Lead to guide the design, development, and implementation of scalable software. This fully remote role collaborates with a distributed team of engineers, product managers, and designers, with focus on supporting operations in Klerksdorp, North West, ZA.

The candidate will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, align roadmaps with product goals, enforce best practices, and ensure delivery of high-quality code in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• At least 3 years in technical leadership or management.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications.
• Drive technical direction and architecture decisions for key projects.
• Collaborate closely with product management to define project requirements and roadmaps.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Implement and promote best practices in software development, including code reviews, unit testing, and CI/CD.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges and bottlenecks.
• Contribute to the development of a strong engineering culture and technical standards.
• Participate in architectural design discussions and technology selection.
• Coach and develop junior and senior engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring successful project execution in a remote setting.
