Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a distributed team focused on cloud services. You will shape the core cloud infrastructure and deliver scalable solutions from anywhere in South Africa, with a remote-first culture and strong autonomy.

Key duties include building cloud-native apps, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines, while continuously improving microservices and API design. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring peers are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or C#.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and API design.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance cloud-native applications and services.
• Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs while ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with architects and product managers to define technical roadmaps and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
