Placements24 is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Systems Analyst for a remote, strategic position focused on energy markets, grid integration, and forecasting. You will analyze wind and solar generation patterns, build forecasting models for supply and demand, and advise on project feasibility and interconnection strategies.

This role emphasizes independent work in a remote-first environment across South Africa while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy analysis, with a focus on renewable energy systems.
• Proficiency in data analysis and modeling software such as Python (Pandas/NumPy), R, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of power systems, grid integration principles, and energy market dynamics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with energy simulation software (e.g., PVSyst, HOMER) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of renewable energy generation patterns, including solar and wind power, utilizing advanced statistical and modeling techniques.
• Develop and maintain forecasting models for energy supply and demand for grid operations and market participation.
• Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of new renewable energy projects and grid interconnection strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and commercial teams to identify opportunities for performance improvements and cost reductions in existing and planned energy assets.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, clearly communicating findings and recommendations.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting the renewable energy landscape.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of best practices within the analytics team.
