Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote position in the sustainable energy division. You will design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems for solar, wind, and energy storage technologies, leveraging CAD/CAE tools and rigorous analysis to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in a remote-first environment, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with focus on sustainable energy systems.
• Proficient in CAD software and FEA/CAE tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and material science.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of components and systems for sustainable energy technologies.
• Use CAD software for 3D modeling and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Perform stress, thermal, vibration and fatigue analyses using CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Select materials and manufacturing processes to optimize performance and cost.
• Collaborate with electrical, software and manufacturing teams in a remote setting.
• Develop and manage BOMs and technical documentation.
• Oversee prototype development, testing and validation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements.
