Placements24 is seeking a Senior Marine Cargo Underwriter to lead risk assessment, pricing, and policy terms for a global marine portfolio. This fully remote role allows you to operate from anywhere while collaborating with brokers and clients worldwide.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in marine cargo underwriting, deep knowledge of international trade and shipping, and a track record of profitable portfolio management. Remote work flexible.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of marine cargo underwriting experience.
• Proven track record of underwriting profitability and portfolio growth.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade, shipping and logistics as relates to cargo insurance.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a remote workload.
• Relevant marine insurance qualifications (e.g., DIP Cii/Marine Specialization) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex marine cargo insurance risks, assessing exposure and determining terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Develop and maintain profitable relationships with brokers and clients.
• Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting marine cargo insurance.
• Contribute to underwriting strategy and guideline development.
• Collaborate with claims to understand loss trends and inform underwriting decisions.
• Provide technical underwriting support to internal teams and external partners.
• Monitor performance of the marine cargo portfolio and identify growth opportunities and risks.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Represent the company at industry events and market development initiatives.
