Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Geologist for a fully remote exploration and resource modeling role within a global mining group. You will leverage advanced data analytics, machine learning, and 3D geological modeling to enhance resource definition and exploration targeting.

You will interpret large datasets, develop high-fidelity models, and mentor junior geologists while collaborating with a worldwide team in a dynamic, tech-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in geological data analysis, modeling, and exploration with a strong computational focus.
• Expert proficiency in geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, ioGAS) and geostatistical packages (Isatis, SGeMS, Supervisor).
• Strong programming skills in Python and R for data analysis and machine learning applications.
• Experience with large geological datasets and database management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced geological data analytics workflows, incorporating machine learning algorithms.
• Create, validate, and refine high-fidelity 3D geological models and resource estimates.
• Interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and prioritize exploration targets.
• Collaborate with exploration geologists and mine engineers to integrate geological models into mine planning and operations.
• Perform geostatistical analysis to assess uncertainty and confidence in resource estimates.
• Develop and maintain standardized methodologies for data quality control and geological interpretation.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations for management and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior geologists in data analytics, modeling techniques, and best practices.
