Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer for a fully remote role with a leader in advanced aerospace systems. You will develop and validate flight dynamics models, design flight control laws, and run simulations for aircraft and spacecraft from your home office.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering, 8+ years in flight dynamics, and expertise in MATLAB/Simulink, GNC, and trajectory optimization.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with specialization in flight dynamics and control.
• 8+ years of experience in flight dynamics engineering, including flight control system design and analysis.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation.
• Strong understanding of rigid body dynamics, aerodynamics, and orbital mechanics.
• Experience with GNC algorithms and remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, and validate flight dynamics models for aircraft and spacecraft.
• Design and tune flight control laws to achieve stability, performance, and maneuverability.
• Conduct simulations to assess flight envelope, trajectory performance, and mission success.
• Develop algorithms for trajectory optimization, guidance, and navigation.
• Support flight testing by analyzing data and recommending control system adjustments.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and aerodynamics teams to define requirements.
• Perform stability and control analyses using frequency and time-domain methods.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations for reviews and submissions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.
• Stay current with state-of-the-art flight dynamics technologies and methodologies.
