Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives in the energy sector. This remote role focuses on leveraging seismic, drilling, production and financial data to drive operational efficiencies and optimize exploration and production through predictive modeling and ML.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with energy/oil & gas sector experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Python or R and associated libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong experience with SQL and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and ML algorithms to solve problems in exploration, production, and operations.
• Clean, process, and analyze large datasets from seismic, drilling, production, and financial streams.
• Build predictive models for equipment failure, production optimization, reservoir performance, and market trends.
• Design and conduct experiments to validate hypotheses and measure impact of data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and analysts to translate needs into data science projects.
• Communicate findings clearly through visualizations and reports to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to best practices.
