About the Role

Our client, a fast-paced technology firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Lawyer to join their legal team in a fully remote capacity. This position is ideal for a motivated and independent legal professional who thrives on complex contractual work and strategic advice. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements, including software licenses, SaaS agreements, partnership deals, and vendor contracts. You will provide essential legal support to various business units, ensuring that all commercial activities are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and mitigate potential risks. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute effectively from anywhere while collaborating with a global team. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), licensing agreements, and partnership contracts.
• Advise business stakeholders on contractual terms, risks, and best practices.
• Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation through execution and renewal.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
• Provide legal support for product development, marketing initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
• Conduct legal research on relevant commercial law issues and provide clear, concise advice.
• Assist in the development and refinement of standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve contractual disputes and manage legal risks.
• Stay informed about evolving legal and business landscapes affecting commercial contracts.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in commercial law, preferably in-house or at a firm with a strong commercial practice.
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, particularly in the technology sector.
• Strong understanding of SaaS, intellectual property, and data privacy laws.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal issues.
