About the Role

Our client is seeking an exceptional Senior Cloud Solutions Architect for a fully remote position. This role is perfect for an experienced architect who thrives on designing and implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions. You will work remotely, collaborating with engineering and operations teams across different time zones to deliver robust cloud strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud computing principles, extensive experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and a proven track record of architecting complex, enterprise-level solutions. This is a remote-first role, emphasizing asynchronous communication and digital collaboration, based out of the broader Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA region but not requiring physical presence there.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and implement cloud migration strategies for existing on-premises applications.
• Create detailed architectural diagrams and documentation for cloud solutions.
• Ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-optimized.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to define infrastructure requirements and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud technologies and services.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services to improve existing infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
• Develop and implement automation for infrastructure deployment and management (IaC).
• Mentor junior cloud engineers and architects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 4 years focused on cloud architecture and engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP services (compute, storage, networking, databases, security).
• Proven experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Excellent understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting.
