About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking engineering firm committed to remote work excellence, is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their distributed team. This role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to a wide array of civil infrastructure projects, including site development, road design, and drainage systems, all from your home office. You will be responsible for leading the design process, ensuring technical accuracy, and collaborating effectively with project managers and clients across different time zones. This is an ideal position for an experienced engineer who thrives in an independent work environment and values the flexibility of remote employment. Our client prioritizes clear communication, digital collaboration tools, and providing engineers with the resources they need to succeed remotely. This role is conceptually based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga , but is entirely remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design for various projects, including land development, site grading, road alignment, and utility infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and reports using CAD and other design software.
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessments related to civil design.
• Ensure designs comply with local, provincial, and national engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with remote project managers, architects, surveyors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review design documents prepared by junior engineers and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to present design concepts and address queries.
• Manage project design tasks, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project scopes and budgets.
• Stay updated on advancements in civil engineering design software and practices.
• Contribute to quality control and assurance processes for design deliverables.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil design engineering.
• Proven experience in site development, grading, drainage design, and road design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar civil design software.
• Strong understanding of stormwater management principles and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a remote setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
• Experience with collaborative software and virtual meeting platforms is essential.
• A strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
