Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer for a fully remote role. You will lead design and development of aerospace systems, from concept through production, collaborating with a globally distributed team to meet stringent performance and safety standards.

This role emphasizes system modeling, requirements management, V&V, and compliance with DO-178C and ARP4754A; you will mentor engineers, run trade studies, and drive architecture decisions while enjoying remote-first

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive aerospace systems engineering experience leading complex projects.
• Deep understanding of system engineering principles, requirements management, and V&V processes.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and STK; CAD software experience.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and development of aerospace systems, including sub-systems and components, from conceptualization through to production.
• Performing system analysis, modeling, and simulation to evaluate performance, identify risks, and optimize designs.
• Developing technical specifications, requirements, and interface control documents (ICDs).
• Overseeing the integration and testing of aerospace systems, ensuring compliance with performance and safety standards.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex engineering issues that arise during design, development, or testing phases.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
• Conducting trade studies and making recommendations for system architecture and technology selection.
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the team's technical growth and knowledge base.
• Ensuring all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace systems engineering, with a strong track record of leading complex projects.
• Deep understanding of system engineering principles, requirements management, and verification & validation processes.
• Proficiency in systems modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, STK) and CAD software.
• Experience with aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., DO-178C, ARP4754A).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, international team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex technical challenges and delivering results under tight deadlines.
• A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating technical risks.
