Job description

About the Role

Our client, a pioneering aerospace technology company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of advanced aerospace components. This role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a world-class engineering team. You will be responsible for designing complex mechanical systems and structures, conducting rigorous analyses, and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety critical to the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in mechanical design, a deep understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes, and a proven ability to excel in a remote work environment. This is an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of aerospace innovation, working on challenging projects that push the boundaries of engineering. Your expertise will be vital in developing next-generation components that define the future of flight. We are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning, providing the tools and support necessary for remote team members to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for aerospace applications using advanced CAD software.
  • Perform detailed engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and thermal analysis, to validate design performance and integrity.
  • Create precise 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) in compliance with aerospace industry standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team of engineers, project managers, and manufacturing partners through virtual communication channels.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, considering factors such as strength-to-weight ratio, fatigue life, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute rigorous testing plans for components and systems, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
  • Ensure all designs meet stringent aerospace regulations, safety requirements, and performance specifications (e.g., FAA, EASA).
  • Maintain meticulous design documentation, including design reviews, reports, and change management records.
  • Proactively identify and resolve complex engineering challenges within a remote setting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies and best practices for remote engineering workflows.
Requirements
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong specialization in aerospace components or systems.
  • Expert proficiency in advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and FEA/CFD simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, STAR-CCM+).
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing techniques (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing), and quality control processes.
  • Proven experience with aerospace design standards, regulations, and certification processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Demonstrated self-discipline, time management, and organizational skills to thrive in a remote setting.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) for design automation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles is desirable.
Benefits

Our client offers a highly competitive salary and bonus structure, commensurate with experience and expertise. Comprehensive benefits include extended health coverage, retirement savings options, and a generous allowance for home office setup and professional development. This is a fully remote position, offering significant flexibility and work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects with a global impact, contributing to the future of aerospace technology from the comfort of your home, and collaborating with leading experts in the field.
