Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Public Affairs Specialist to manage relations with government bodies, policymakers and community stakeholders. This remote role, based in Bloemfontein, focuses on monitoring public policy, advocating for company interests and communicating complex issues effectively.

The ideal candidate has a background in public policy or government relations, with 5-7 years of relevant experience, and will influence strategic policy decisions from a remote location.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in public affairs, government relations or policy advocacy.
• Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in South Africa.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze public policy developments relevant to the organization.
• Develop and implement strategies to engage with government officials and policymakers.
• Prepare briefing materials, position papers and advocacy communications.
• Represent the organization at public forums, hearings and industry events.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector and community.
• Advise senior leadership on public affairs matters and potential policy impacts.
