This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa, contributing to critical projects with a primary focus on clients and operations based near Paarl, Western Cape . You will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of complex electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, proficiency with modern design tools, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with distributed teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems for diverse applications, from initial concept through to detailed design and documentation.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and component specifications using industry-standard CAD and simulation software.
• Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, circuit protection sizing, signal integrity analysis, and thermal management.
• Select and specify electrical components, considering factors such as performance, cost, availability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, software developers, mechanical designers, and project managers across different locations.
• Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, providing technical expertise and support throughout the product lifecycle.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and manufacturing support documentation.
• Stay abreast of emerging electrical engineering technologies and propose innovative design solutions.
• Effectively communicate design concepts, trade-offs, and progress updates to stakeholders through virtual meetings and written reports.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree with significant equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical systems design and development.
• Expertise in designing complex analog and digital circuits, power electronics, and control systems.
• Proficiency with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD) and simulation software (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Strong understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and signal integrity principles.
• Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and associated firmware interfaces.
• Proven ability to manage design projects independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Must be comfortable and effective working in a fully remote capacity.
