Job summary

Lyceum College invites applications from qualified professionals to serve as PGCE Assessors for Teaching Practice within the PGCE qualification in the Faculty of Education. This is a remote position.

Assessors will evaluate teaching practice evidence, provide academic feedback, and ensure alignment with South African higher education standards and QA requirements. A master’s degree in Education and at least two years in higher education are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong subject knowledge in teacher education and practice.
• Excellent assessment, writing, reviewing and feedback skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience with distance or online education is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assess Teaching Practice portfolios, reports, lesson plans and reflective activities.
• Ensure assessments align with programme outcomes and NQF expectations.
• Evaluate submissions for validity, reliability, fairness and rigor.
• Provide constructive feedback using rubrics and guidelines.
• Verify coherence, reflective practice and pedagogical approaches in evidence.
• Collaborate with programme coordinators and academic teams.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and regulatory requirements.
• Meet assessment deadlines and manage revisions or re-assessments.
