Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Remote Mortgage Underwriter to join a national lender's team. You will assess loan applications, verify financial information, and determine borrower creditworthiness in a remote setting.

You will work with mortgage products including FHA/VA/Conventional loans, ensuring compliance and timely decisions while maintaining thorough documentation and adherence to guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of direct mortgage underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of FHA, VA, Conventional and USDA loan programs.
• Proficient with underwriting software and LOS systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze loan applications, credit reports, financial statements, and appraisals.
• Evaluate borrower income, assets and credit history to assess risk.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state lending regulations and guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting policies and risk controls for approvals/denials.
• Communicate decisions and conditions clearly to loan officers.
• Identify discrepancies or missing information in loan documents.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions.
• Stay updated on product guidelines and regulatory changes.
• Manage a remote loan pipeline to meet production goals.
• Collaborate with processors to move files smoothly through close.
