Placements24 is seeking a remote Mechanical Engineer specializing in thermal management to join its global product development team. You will design, analyze, and validate thermal solutions for high-performance electronics and equipment, working across time zones.
Applicants should hold a Master\'s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with thermodynamics or fluid mechanics, and have at least six years of experience with CFD tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, STAR-CCM+) and CAD.
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Mechanical Engineer specializing in Thermal Systems to join their global product development team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be instrumental in the design, analysis, and validation of thermal management solutions for high-performance electronic devices and complex industrial equipment. The role requires a deep understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid dynamics, and material science. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across different time zones to deliver innovative and efficient thermal designs that meet stringent performance requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute your expertise to a leading technology company while enjoying the benefits of a remote-first work environment.
Design and develop novel thermal management systems, including heat sinks, fans, liquid cooling solutions, and thermal interface materials. Perform detailed thermal and fluid flow simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Icepak) to predict and optimize system performance. Conduct thorough analytical calculations to support design decisions and validate simulation results. Create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings for thermal components and assemblies. Collaborate with hardware engineers, PCB designers, and firmware developers to ensure effective integration of thermal solutions into the overall product design. Plan and execute experimental testing to characterize thermal performance, identify failure modes, and validate designs against specifications. Generate comprehensive reports documenting design processes, simulation results, test data, and recommendations for improvement. Stay current with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and propose innovative solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on thermal engineering principles and best practices.
Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in thermodynamics, heat transfer, or fluid mechanics. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience focused on thermal design and analysis for electronic or mechanical systems. Proven expertise in thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, STAR-CCM+) and CAD tools. Strong theoretical understanding of conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer phenomena. Experience with thermal characterization techniques and test equipment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in documenting technical findings and presenting them clearly to a global team. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting. Familiarity with relevant industry standards for thermal performance is a plus.
