Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to join our Richards Bay team. You will design and optimize heavy industrial machinery, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards, while enjoying a fully remote work setup.

In this role, you will develop mechanical systems, produce CAD drawings and BOMs, run simulations, and collaborate with electrical, software, and project teams to deliver world-class plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in heavy industrial machinery design.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and engineering analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and material handling.
• Experience with machine safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer robust mechanical systems for industrial equipment, including structural, power transmission, and control elements.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis, kinematics) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems.
• Oversee prototype fabrication and testing, analyzing results to refine designs for manufacturability and performance.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of machinery globally.
