Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Literacy Coach for remote engagement with Benoni-based educational initiatives. You will design and deliver literacy interventions, coach educators, assess reading and writing levels, and collaborate to embed evidence-based strategies across curricula.

This role emphasizes remote collaboration with students, teachers, and administrators to improve literacy outcomes. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Literacy Education or related field, at least 5 years'

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Literacy Education or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a literacy specialist, coach, or teacher.
• Proven expertise in literacy assessment and intervention strategies.
• Strong understanding of reading and writing development from early childhood to adulthood.
• Excellent coaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Ability to design and deliver engaging professional development.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for literacy instruction and assessment.
• Experience working remotely is advantageous.
• A passion for improving literacy rates and fostering a lifelong love of reading.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement targeted literacy intervention programs.
• Provide coaching and professional development to educators on best practices in literacy instruction.
• Assess students' reading and writing levels and identify areas for growth.
• Create and adapt literacy resources and materials for diverse learners.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate literacy strategies across the curriculum.
• Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for educators and parents.
• Stay current with research and trends in literacy education.
• Contribute to the development of school-wide literacy goals and strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of coaching activities and student progress data for programs in Benoni.
