Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Remote Early Literacy Specialist to deliver one-on-one online tutoring for children aged 4-7, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading fluency and comprehension from home.

You will develop personalized learning plans, use engaging digital tools, and provide constructive feedback to students and guardians, contributing to global early education initiatives in the Western Cape region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Linguistics, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching or tutoring early literacy with children aged 4–7.
• Demonstrated expertise in foundational literacy concepts and effective teaching strategies.
• Experience with online teaching platforms (Zoom/Google Meet) and interactive educational software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
• Patience, empathy, and passion for working with young children.
• Ability to create engaging and dynamic virtual learning experiences.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage online tutoring schedules independently.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and suitable home office setup.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individualized online literacy tutoring sessions for young learners (ages 4-7).
• Develop and implement personalized learning plans based on assessments and goals.
• Utilize engaging digital tools and resources to teach foundational literacy skills.
• Focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and guardians.
• Track student progress and adjust strategies as needed.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and fun learning environment online.
• Collaborate with the platform's educational team to share best practices.
• Stay informed about latest research in early childhood literacy instruction.
• Ensure reliable internet and a distraction-free workspace for sessions.
