Qualifications

About the Role

You will be responsible for a broad range of legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial agreements, and regulatory advice, all managed through a remote-first framework. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice and strategic counsel on a wide array of corporate and commercial legal issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including but not limited to, service agreements, supply agreements, partnership agreements, and intellectual property licenses.
• Oversee corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution strategies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support business objectives and inform decision-making.
• Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, management, and external legal counsel.
• Support business development initiatives by providing legal expertise on new ventures and projects.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures within a remote operational context.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and claims as they arise.
• Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company's industry and operations.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Admission as an Advocate or Attorney in good standing with the relevant legal council.
• A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law, preferably with experience in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Proven ability to handle a diverse range of legal matters with a high degree of autonomy.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of South African corporate law, contract law, and relevant commercial regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills, adaptable to remote interactions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and collaboration software.
• A proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented approach to legal problem-solving.
