Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Logistics Planner to design, implement, and manage optimal logistics and transportation plans from anywhere in South Africa. You will leverage advanced analytics to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels while leading a remote team of planners and analysts.

The role requires 8+ years in logistics planning (3+ in leadership), expertise in global transport, and strong data-analysis skills (SQL, Python, R, Excel).

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, SCM, OR, or Business Administration.
• 8+ years progressive logistics planning experience, with 3+ in leadership.
• Experience with global transportation modes, freight forwarding, and customs.
• Strong analytical skills with SQL/Python/R and Excel.
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategic logistics plans.
• Excellent leadership and remote communication abilities.
• Negotiation and contract management skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in logistics planning and management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated expertise in global transportation modes, freight forwarding, and customs regulations.
• Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in logistics modeling software, data analysis tools (SQL, Python, R), and advanced Excel.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic logistics plans.
• Exceptional leadership, team management, and communication skills, particularly in a remote environment.
• Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.
• Ability to think strategically and solve complex, multifaceted problems.
• Experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
• Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and capable of working autonomously.
